Working cross-culturally is my passion.

After a decade of working in the corporate world in the U.S., I grew disillusioned by Western culture. In 2013, I joined the United States Peace Corps and moved to Limpopo, South Africa. Here, I received language and culture training and collaborated with the Venda tribe to support their community education goals. During this time, I also apprenticed with two award winning social development pioneers and former United Nations consultants, David Patient and Neil Orr.

Under their tutelage, I collaborated with teachers and children within the Venda tribe in a leadership development initiative which resulted in the launch of community programs in permaculture and food security, literacy, health education, and youth empowerment.

Today, I live on Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, where I serve on the board of Chi Tz'unun Choy, an educational NGO. I also provide behind-the-scenes support to indigenous-led organizations focused on food security, ecologic restoration, and economic development in their communities.

As a cross-cultural educator, I support budding leaders with navigating the sensitivities of cross-cultural work. I am committed to  preventing the psychological harm and cultural degradation that happens all-too-often when Westerners impose their value system and structures upon indigenous communities.
